I've had a rumbling noise coming from the front of the car this morning.

After driving in the outside lane through slush the car started rumbling and bouncing/rattling at the front nearside, as if I had a flat tyre.

I pulled in and checked it and everything seems fine.

The bouncing/rumbling only starts after I hit 40mph, anything less and its non-existent.

If I let go of the steering wheele while its rumbling the wheel is very fidgety

Any ideas anyone.

Check if the wheel is balanced. I had a similar issue and foudn out the wheels were not balanced properly.

If the wheel is balanced, does it bounce when the steering is straight or when you are cornering? Is the car still bouncing when coasting in neutral, or only when you are in gear? My (uneducated) guess is a ball-joint issue...

Thanks for everyones reply.

The problem was gone when I left work last night!

I assume because its been so cold one of the suspension coils had siezed, or it was indeed an ice/slush build up.

Thanks guys!
