Just a quick question for everyone - how often do you / should you have your tyres rotated, I.e fronts to back, and vice versa.

Also, does anyone know if Goodyear GT3's need to be simply rotated, or diagonally rotated ?

Lastly, do you do it yourself, or are you better getting a tyre fitter to do it and get them balanced at the same time ?

Cheers,
Chris

some people do it every six months personal i rotate my when the front tread hits 3mm

Bad idea, should always have the tyres with the most meat on the rear, stops you loosing the rear end in an evasive manoeuvre!

Personally I rotate them annually when I swap between my winter and summer tyres, so every 10k miles or so.

Just to throw a spanner into the mix....

Rotating your tyres depends on what model you have, in some owners manuals (particularly abarth's) it will advise against rotating your tyres due to the amount of camber and how it differs front to rear. Thus resulting in the rears wearing more towards the inside edge etc.. if you then swapped this tyre to the front, which may have more/less camber... this would alter the way the tyre would sit on the road.

Also, with regards to how to swap them, eg diagonally etc, its important to remember that lots of tyres are directional. The direction indicated on the side of the tyre wall must be the main direction of travel. So therefore a N/S tyre may need to STAY on the near side, albeit front or rear.

Interesting, never seen this, but it makes sense.
