Reving on start up

every morning or if she's laying idle for a few hours
i start her up and she revs like a mofo!
right up to 6000then i put a bit of power on and she dies back.

would the accelarator be stuck or is this a common problem on the 1.4?

Hmm.. something not right. I'd check all the connections around the throttle first, make sure everything is ok.
