revcounter on revcounter off

anyone help

revcounter on for a day a week an hour,revcounter off for same,hit bump sometimes revcounter back on.

engine runs fine all the time, no warning lights,no power probs.

98 HGT

any ideas?

Unplug the instrument dial, check the plugs at the back, maybe bend them alittle to make sure theres good contact.
