I have a 1998 MK1 HGT. The missus has just rung me up to say that the revcounter needle was moving up and down of it's own accord whilst she was driving to work. She said that she was doing a steady 80, the car wasn't surging as if the revs were going up and down, yet the revcounter needle was moving up and down.
Anybody got any ideas?
Do the revs for the engine get worked out from the distributer like older cars or is it the ECU that generates the signal to the revcounter?

I think it may just be a little onetime dicky part o your dashmeter, i have a bravo and the petrol gauge is a bit like your revmeter, lets just bear in mind that fiat have not quite mastered the electrical part to cars yet, i aint dissin um coz i love um you just got a put up wi it, im just guessin if it carries on all the time id get it on the local fiat garage diagnostic machine that'll sort it but may hurt your wallet m8

Mine did that about 2-3 days after i got it back from the garage, it sorted it out within the next day or so...never done it again since...
