Hi Guys,

Just a quick.

Im not technical when it comes to cars at all.....Computers yes...Cars no....

I have a 54 plate punto mark 2.5 (Facelift).

I've had it since March 08 (16 Months) and stupidly i've yet to have it service ( I know it's bad.....Moneys is tight...)

I drive arounf 70 miles per day and just recently i noticed an issue while on the lovely M6.

When coming to an all stop both the rv counter and the speedo drop sharply, Idle used to sit at the 1000 rpm...and it does until you come to an all stop. This then drops to 800 rpm.

At the same time the speedo shoots down to 0.

When i pull away i notice it can sometimes judder (I thought this was me as i drove an auto for 3 years after passing my test) but i'm starting to think otherwise.

Any help would be much appreciated, i know i already have to replaced the tires.....so it i can find out the issue i hopefully can avoid spending shed loads.

Which engine have you got?

If i remember correctly the idle speed is 850rpm +/- 50rpm.

Is the sharp drop before or after the engines drop in speed?

I have the 1.2 Activ Sport.

The sharp drop tends to happen just before a complete stop.

It's like power has been lost and the rev/speedo just give up.

Occasionally i feel the car judder "ever" so slightly like it might stall but it is the tiniest of feelings.

Driving around doesn't really cause and issue....It is only when stopping (Which on the M6 is quite regularly)

8 or 16 valve?

I have the 16v 1.2 Active Sport and I noticed how the needles seem to fall kinda fast when you stop. I just thought it was normal, has the car just developed this issue or

The idle should be around 900 rpm, mine is.

And I hear what you say about the M6, came back from Brighton on Friday and the only jam I got in (other than by the airport on the M25) was the M6, atleast I knew I was nearly home
