General Replaning brakepads

today i set about going to replace my brake pads. I think its about time. Anyway, when i went to fit them, following the haynes manual exact, I got the the part where i needed to buy the caliper back on (u know, the thing that actually pushes the pads onto the disk) and it wouldnt fit, it says in the haynes manual that i need to depress the caliper to refit it...

how do i do this? i havent got a clue!

I just replaced my pads 2 weeks back and I used a clap to push the prassure back on the caliper so that it can fit back on (if you know what I mean hehe )

so a simple G clamp should be able to puch it in? but wont it just come back out again becuase i was squeezing it in my hand today and it would go in a tiny bit but come back out.

Iusaly use hammer handle or what evers handy to push back the piston, don't forget you have to remove the lid from the brake fluid Reservoir first or it won't go in.

well when i was doinging by hand, the piston moved but didnt actually go in... and i had the lid off and had it unscrewed... alot of fluid came out with no luck moving the piston so i gave up that idea cause i didnt wanrt to waste loads of fluid

its normal for the fluid to rise and sometimes overflow to avoid damage to paint work remove some with a turkey baster first.
