I Have an 05 version with a rather nasty Blaupunkt original. The other day a fitter at my local Fiat Garage was kind enough to demonstrate the new alpine CDE103. (Built in Parrott Bluetooth)
It litterally took 5 minutes to take out the old one out, fit the alpine with the adaptor cable for the Steering controls and guess what? It all worked.
All he needed to do to complete the install was to install the microphone which isn't that difficult either.
In my opinion, this is the way forward, not only do you get a replacement Bluetooth Head Unit you also get a system that works with the steering controls aswell.

anyone got any recommendations for something which works with the original wiring and the steering controls.. and has an operational AUX?
Getting fed up of original now... whats the going rate for a multipla 2005 CD player?:D

p.s. caraudiosupermarket on ebay - accepted bid of £4.55 on a grey multipla DIN stereo facia and fitting kit - pretty darn cheap - I think they have loads to get rid of...

1st thing I did when I bought my Multipla was get a new stereo. Halfords fitted it there and then 10 mins if that - sounds good, plays MP3's has bluetooth and loads of other gubbins, but sounds so much better!

Only just seen this post!

I fitted a JVC with an aux port. £39 from Argos clearance Bargains on Ebay. Been great. The new fascia panel was quite fiddly to fit and doesn't look brilliant under scrutiny, but it was the only option. Don't have steering wheel controls so can't comment sorry.:)
