Hello,i am in my way for a major tune-up,does it worth to replace the original M30 T.jet gearbox with the abarth M32 gearbox

i want to avoid killing the whole box with the extra torque i am looking for :slayer:

if you agree with me pleae tell me what else do i need to replace to get the box fitted( gear stick, gear links....etc)

Thanks ,cheers

I have heard of one or two problems with 4th gear on t-jets. The diff also seems to give trouble but this may be more to do with lowering the suspension than increasing the power. The clutch is the most likely failure.

Just a thought, what gearbox do the 150bhp bravos use? It might be a cheaper way to upgrade.

well,
the car is lowered by 3.5 cm in the front and in the back using koni lowering springs"the blue springs"

i guess the 150 bravos uses the same box as the AGP one

The M32 is a truly shocking gearbox and fails quite easily under normal driving conditions. The torque fron a petrol engine should be ok tbh. I belive the design limitations a 340nm of torque although they are known to fail way below this. I would find an alternative box.

that is shocking  !!!
could you suggest another box please

Personally I'd look at a Grande Punto Abarth box (I'm not sure what they use??) They don't seem to be failing and the factory power output is quite powerful, especially in the essesse form.

They use the M32 like the diesels. Maybe the lower torque output of the petrol engines is enough to save them or maybe there just aren't enough abarths around for any news failures to have reached this forum.

If it were me I'd save the money by leaving the m30 in place and only consider a swap if it began to fail. Even if the worst happens you will have got some mileage out of the first box so the second will last longer.

i go with using the stock M30 to the last and see if it will fail or not
now have to look for a good priced clutch set that can handle more torque and heat
