General Replaced windshield

Had the misfortune to have a rack in windscreen. 500X Cross Plus with visibility heated seats and steering wheel, lane departure etc.. when I contacted my insurance company, not happy to fund the proxy realignment of camera etc.. difference is £255 to have it done compared to their standard excess of £75. Sony having better equipment fitted, you're penalised, and that's after you are forced to use their omnended replacement fitters. And then the handling agent "lost" the windscreen that had been ordered directly from VIN details from Fiat in Italy. Took less than a week to UK then more than a week to get to us...

sorry to hear that, I have the same add ons and dread having to have a replacement screen fitted, did you have to go to a main dealership or are the likes of auto glass able to replace and reset the sensors etc?

Well we got it fixed.....eventually. Autoglass are willing to go 50:50 in the excess, which at first read seems fair, but having booked us in initially to fit screen, then when we waited....and waited...........and waited........and rang them for them to say they'd not got the screen, so would need to rebook the fitting, we could have taken time off work to wait so still not happy with their offer. Why did they lie saying they had the screen then say they didn't have it. Not a way to run a business

Sorry Mike what do you mean by proxy realignment of camera? Is that the eye for the Auto-Wipers etc? Sounds like a bit of a con to me. I've heard a few negative comments about Autoglass. Last screen I needed was for my Fiat Coupe and used AA Autowindscreens. The fitter was excellant and a real perfectionist. I'm sure you can choose which company you want to do the job though I suppose its all down to whoever turns up on the day.

Yes. And it all works without paying the £255 they wanted.
As Autoglass messed us around, but Privilege insurance stated we has to use AG, argued the toss and got the £75 excess down to £25... a result for us so be warned, proxy realignment seems to "learn"by itself
