Removing Roof Lining

Hey guys, right, I know there is a section about this on the repair guide, but I was wondering if anyone has anymore hints/tips?

I think the part I'm going to find hard will be the middle pillar, so any help on getting this off ( I think it's got to be taken off anyway?) would be great because I aint got a clue. The rest I should be okay with!

I'm removing it to check where exactly my water leak is coming in from before those winter months set in!

I have done this at the start of the summer having gone last winter with my sunroof sealed tight with silicone

You def need to take the center pillars off to remove the linning. only tips i could give really would be as gentle as poss. the only thing you can break will be the clips and if so you can glue them back on but they are a bit fiddly. other wise goto the scrappies and get a new bita trim.

the plastic covers on the drivers side where the holy-**** handle should be is a nightmare to get off. i totaly trashed mine trying to get them out. i plan to get the metal clips and then get another handle from a scrappy and put that there instead.

you can get away withought removing the front pillar covers. if you do take them out they can be bit of a sod to get back in at the bottom by the dash.

the rear plastic pillar covers (parcel shelf supports) need to be undone and can just be layed down in the boot. i tried to undo the seat belts bolts under the seats to remove them completly so i could clean the plastiuc but it was just impossible to remove the bolt.

apart from that m8 give it ago. to take the linning out is only a one man job. i did mine in a couple of hours one evening when i got home from work so i could spend all weekend taking my sunroof out.

i ended up driving around for a month withought any roof lining at all!! but thats another storey.

I took alot of pics incase anyone needed them. they are mainly of taking the sunroof out though.

I've had mine done by three different Mechanics.

One ordered and fitted a new seal from FIAT, made no difference whatsoever.

The next guy said it was nothing to do with the seal, it needed re-routed so he did that, no difference.

Still pissin in.

Right, I've got the other pillars off and the light unit out, but I'm still stuck on the middle pillar. Does the big bolt in the middle have to come off? There's a screw under the seatbelt too, this need to come off? Anything else to know?

Just a bit unsure about taking the seatbelt bolt out!
