Removing number plates

Hey guys my no. plates are firmly stuck and I want to get them off, and make sure everything stays in tact... Do I do the usual and use a plastic spatula and hot water?? Also whats the best thing to use to stick the new ones on with as I dont fancy drilling holes to put the plates in..

Just pull slowly and carefully. They're only held on with double sticky backed foam strips. £1 a roll from pound shops!
