I have a working ignition but the plastic surround that holds the barrel and mechanism is broken. I have a doner surround but I can’t figure out how to get the old one apart.

Anyone know how?

I sent Club500Italia on eBay a message and they told me how to do it. I’ll paste it below for anyone else in future that needs to know how.

You need to put the key in and on to the first click there is a hole on the top of the black plastic just above the barrel, push this pin down and pull the barrel out with the key.

Glad you found it.

All my time in the motor trade, since 1972, generally lock barrels need a key inserted, and often turned, to remove the barrel. Prevents removal of a barrel without the key, so an anti-theft measure.

Doorlocks will probably need a key too if you ever need to remove them.

Yeah I’ve done door locks. They’re quite easy and as you say with the key in. I guessed you probably had to have the key in it but it was the at the first position bit that was stumping me.
