Hello - possibly a record short post from me - to remove heater control knobs, it's much easier if you heat them first with a hot-air gun. The plastic becomes softer after only a few seconds - and you can just pull them off without damaging the fan switch, scratching the panel, etc.
Obviously, watch that you don't melt the panel behind the knobs (that would take about 20 seconds...)
