General Removing gear stick gaiter

Hi All

I want to change my gear stick gaiter and was wondering how to remove the original one. Not sure how the surround/trim at the bottom comes out and didn't want to force it and break it.

My logic tells me to just gently prize the surround out and it will pop out of its fixing clips?

Rather than prising the surround off (risk of tool marks) I gently pull at the gaiter/boot from the top/front with lever out of the way in 2nd and the retaining ring just un clips.

Mine seemed stuck fast yesterday so not sure I'll be successful doing that but will give it a try. At least I know now it does just clip out so if I end up having to prise it out (with masking tape in place so as not to leave tool marks) then I'll have half an idea what to expect!

If you pull the gaiter slightly backwards toward the stick and upwards at the same time it should pop off its clips without too much trouble.

Good to hear : )
I hate the risk of 'tool marks' on my car so if there is a tool free way to remove something I'm much happier.
