I have a 2002 Hymer Motorhome on a Fiat Ducato base. The present radio is a Blaupunkt Casablanca CD51.
I would like to change it but seem unable to remove the assembly. I can see 4 little holes in each corner and I am assuming it is something to do with them. I have inserted small alan keys in each corner in the hope that I will be able to release whatever mechanism is holding it in place. But no luck.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

That's an easy one. You should go and buy the proper keys they are bent bits of wire prongs one for each side pair of holes. They are expensive for what they are but you won't regret it. They push in nearly all the way, wriggle them in, the radio will then pull out. Any other object won't find the metal clips the same way, not worth the agro
Any motor factors or Halfrauds if desperate or convenient!

The allen keys may not have been thick enough to release the clips if you push them simultaneously it should release takes a wit of wiggling too get it to move but once it starts to move it willcome out.

I've used pop rivets and nails no problem to remove mine. If you have some thick fence wire, copper wire, coat hanger notches them close to the ends with a side or end cutters the clips will grab the wire and it will pull out.

Thank you for your replies, I managed with a lot of hassle to remove the radio.
Just one more question which hopefully you can help me with.
There were the usual connectors and the FM aerial connector, however running from the van there was another aerial cable, with different connector on the end which was unconnected. Any ideas what this was, the van is from 2002 so it would not be a DAB aerial connector I assume.

I have a 2006 Jayco Conquest motorhome on a Fiat Ducato model 244

There is a second radio in the house part of the vehicle
I found the connection for the second radio above the original cab lining

Perhaps the motorhome builder had left them ready to connect, but not fitted the second radio

Although you have already removed your radio, as interest to others, how to make a tool when you see the four round holes

  • I got two 2.5 mm welding rods
  • Cleaned the flux from the rod
  • Filled each end into a point
  • Bent them in the centre at the same measurements as two holes on one side
  • Pushed them in the four holes to release the holding clips
  • Pulled the radio out for about one inch before removing the welding rods
The new radio has one slot type hole on each side. It came with two tools for removal purpose
