Disconnect the battery after ensuring you've got your radio code. Wait (I left mine an hour; others say 5 mins is OK...).
Remove air-bag - 2xT30 screws behind steering wheel. Have steering wheel at 90 deg. to normal driving position to remove these. The screws point in slightly towards the centre of the steering wheel. Before completely removing air bag unplug the ribbon cable and undo the earth wire. Air bag comes off easily, put it somewhere safe.
Hold the steering wheel with your knees and undo the centre nut. A spark-plug spanner fits nicely.
Give the steering wheel a wiggle and off it comes.
I took mine off to replace the clockspring mechanism, so I removed the plastic cowling behind the steering wheel too - 2xT14 underneath.
When you put it back together, don't forget the bloody earth wire. I'm going back out soon to do mine...
