recently bought

i rencently bought a bravo 1.6 16v trofeo. i seem to b havin a few problems with it like it has a lack of power untill iy hints 4000 rev's and i think the alternater is broke but it will run all day long after it has been bumped off but i hav 2 do this every time i turn the car off. can any1 please help me out in how to solve these problems if they both are problems? thanks

2. battery
use a multymeeter and check the voltage on the battery poles when the car is running and when not, report the voltage.

cheers was thinking about doing i sevice in the new year. i tried a volt meter and the battery was fine but the car just won't start with out a booster pack but the battery light doesn't come on in the car wen running which tells me the alternater is working is there anything else it could possibley b before i replace the alternater?

What was the voltage value ? Sounds like the battery is not OK.
Using a booster pack can result in 2 things:
1. battery is too weak (the capacity low)
2. the starter motor needs too much current

The alternator must be tested using a voltmeter, better to say it must show 13-14V when the car is running.
