A question to all who have fitted their own Multipla rear swing arm bearing.

When fitting just the new bearing (not the whole new arm) can you leave the rear wheel bearing on the arm? Going by a post I read earlier it seems that the bearing can be left intact. The reason I am asking is that I have just fitted a new wheel bearing to the rear and this side will probably require an new swing arm bearing quite soon so I was hoping that the bearing could be left intact otherwise it could be rendered unusable should it need to be removed.

I know when I removed my old bearing, only half of the bearing came off leaving the rear section on the shaft and this had to be prised off. I don't know if bearings can be re-used after this happens?

There's no need to remove the wheel bearing if you're just changing the bearing on the swing arm. I changed the entire swing arm, so the wheel bearing had to go. Just like yours it split, so the inner half was left on the swing arm. I was very careful, heated it, and removed it quite easy. Then I just put the bearing back together, works perfectly. Just make 100% sure there's no dirt in the bearing when putting it back together.
