General Rear Springs

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a regular length spring but stiffer than regular. My suspension is down a couple of inches so Im assuming its the springs. I dont want to go down the lowering route cause this car is used to tow a caravan.

i've never seen any for the marea, you can fit spring assistors through or have you already tried them?

I have thought about assistors but going off what height the car should be new and what it is now (2" down) I thought I probably need new springs. I may have to just get the regular ones and put assistors on in the mean time Ill keep looking for couple of month till I need them.

Try one of the good motor factors, they should be able to check if heavy duty springs are available. Depending on the age of the existing springs they may have compressed or even broken so it may work just replacing them with the standard ones. I run a garage and we change broken springs on something most weeks, normally cos they have failed mot for it.

I would expect new standard springs to fix the problem. It's a 5 minute job if you have spring compressors. I would not be surprised if the springs have failed, I have had to paint mine a couple of times and if thats been neglected then it is very likely the have corroded through.

If you got a good parts guy at Fiat dealers, ask if they can get hold of Italian Police rear springs. I had theese fitted to my old Marea 20v, standard height but alot stiffer than standard springs.
I used to have a big ice install in my old car, however this is back in 1997 so may not still be available.

Phoned Shop4parts he looked at whatever parts thing they look at and said that only the Italian Police saloons had the stiffer springs. Just had a thought you werent talking about a saloon by any chance were you.
