Technical Rear light cluster

Hi guys, I know that its been covered many times before, but I'm having trouble with my left rear light cluster, when I go to indicate it 9/10 times shows an error and doesn't work. I have tried a new bulb which worked for about 2 left turns then stopped again. From time to time I will get an error to check my brake lights. When I'm stationary I've had a friend check the brake lights are they appear to be fine.

At the weekend I plan on taking the unit out and cleaning the contacts, but in a few of the previous posts I've read I can see people mentioning the earthing points.

Where is the earthing point for the rear light cluster ?

bottom left of the boot need to remove boot rear most plastic trim (2 screws and the large flat torx bolt that the boot spring contacts boot rubber seal too)

then pull back left hand side, side carpet
