General Re-Conditioned gearbox How much Should I be paying

Well I have ongoing gearbox issues with my cinq. I was looking on ebay and noticed I can get a Reconditioned Cinq Sporting gearbox delivered to my door for £270....Is this waaaay expensive or not? I rang the guy and he seems an alright fella and said that the Diff had to be replaced and the general bearing changes. Also looks like its been cleaned and primed.

Also is there any other suggestions where I can get a gearbox its just my car is sitting at the garage waiting for one!

£270 is suspiciously cheap for a recon gearbox, very expensive for a S/H one. If you google for

used car parts

about 3 services come up who will search for one from scrappies for you. Alternatively, try Mick (Fluffy the Impaler) on ClubCento or the classifieds here and there. Also eBay.

I've tried the usual find a part etc and have recieved no replies from any of them in over a week!! I thought I had one from off this forum but i'm not so sure now.....I'll try Mick.

Seems that the ones on Ebay are reparied ones more than re-con'd

Of the last ones I bought, a Seicento Abarth one with 20k, £30 (thanks Emma!) and a plain Sporting one (with engine and rest of car attached) £190.

i had a problem with my old cinq where it lost 3 rd gear . i ended up getting one from fiat and it cost me nearly 600quid ...... this was before i knew about fiat forum etc ... :bang:
