Hi everyone - my first post here!

I have a 20V Turbo which is superb - only one niggle. A metallic rattle or knock from the offside rear wheel region when I go over a bump. Especially when there is a rear passenger, and I am turning the car to the left. Best I can describe it is like hitting the lid of an aluminium saucepan with a screwdriver.

I have had the wheel off, the car on ramps, etc. and no luck so far. All suggestions welcome.

A bolt can sometimes knock the topmount on the coupe, I'd get that checked out. Also if your wishbones are on their way out this could be the culprit. Glad you're enjoying your coupe

What's cool is that I am in Abergele - not far away!

Could you please explain about the bolt? Where is it? The topmount of what - the suspension spring?

I'm taking it for the MOT, so that ought to pick it up.

Sorry that doesn't answer your question

Right sign up to fccuk and ask your question on Technical problems, I'm sure I read about a similar problem someone had and it was to do with a bolt on the suspension components, if they see your post they will no doubt help you out, the coupe forum is a godsend if you own a coop!

I think I saw yours too - just off the main road heading down towards the beach? I was out for a tootle and just chanced on it parked by the roadside.

How useful is this site for technical issues?

Topmount - shock absorber?

That's me yeah  small world.

this site is not so good for coupe's, there are a few of us and we help when we can but fccuk is best for technical issues. Let me try and dig the post up about the knocking suspension...

Thanks - that would be helpful. Not sure about affording the subscription just at the moment. This noise is like a saucepan lid being hit with a screwdriver. Sharp, tinny sort of click. Difficult to think of it as a suspension mounting - more like the exhaust hitting the heatshield material.

Here's my email. [email protected] Private communications welcomed.

It would be good to keep in touch, and maybe get together sometime, as you suggest. I also think I need to find a good local garage. Do you have one you can recommend?

What I always say is, use a local garage you feel you can trust for the usual maint, easy jobs etc, and for anything major go to a specialist like James twist, or Motormech in Birmingham. Quite a drive, but you can trust them. Most garages round mine are pants to be honest, but I have heard good things about the GMS auto centre in prestatyn (it's a right turn just after the bus stop)

OK, thanks. I have one I feel I can trust - he even allows cars through their MOT without digging up artificial problems. I'll try him first. I don't really know enough or have the equipment to do my own maintenance and repairs, so I really need to find someone reliable.

Hi Guys, just wanted to offer a bit of input as I have/had a similar if not the same problem, after weeks & weeks I found the noise down to the inner guard/fence on the front brake disc flexing & rubbing the back of the disc, also if you have had the fwd undertray removed the retaining screw clips often vibrate & ping, hope this helps

Matt and "The Enforcer" going on as if they have never met, I don't know.
Matt, DO YOU KNOW WHO HE IS!!!
Hi both Dave here.
Enforcer, sir, I would get that looked at just for piece of mind and if you do go to Matt's get a job price and don't let him charge you by the hour!!!:D
Like Matt said though just put a post up on FCCUK under "technical problems".

Dave
