Long story short:
I have wider wheels on my Uno than the standard hair's width ones. This has resulted in a small hole at the top of the fuel pipe, which only leaks when the car is fully fueled up.
Somehowe yesterday, some fuel had leaked out, in obvious view at work and the H&S people went mental and insisted I get teh car towed off site and park it elsewhere (Yes, that right, they wanted me to call the breakdown service, wait 45 minutes just to have the car towed 50m and to waste a call out quota!).
I pushed it off site and parked on the opposite carpark belonging to another company who currently don't use it.

Went home, got the car "looked at" (the mechanics laughed very hard as there were no cracks, or splits (other than the tiny hole) and agreed that the H&S people were taking the ****). They just suggested I don't fill the car up fully! Gave me a reciept for 'work done totalling £35' and I went on my merry way.

My dad will be taking the fuel pipe off the spares and repairs Uno on Thursday, but I will need some wheel spacers to increase the gap between the fuel pipe and the wheel. Can anyone point me in the direction of ones that will fit on the classified section please, so I can get them bought right away?

Thanks in advance.

I don't see how the tyre has caught on the pipe if the hole was on TOP, as that's the opposite direction of the tyre.so did the the spin the pipe around as well?

Just sounds like a breather hole

No, it is a hole, small as it is.
The inside top corner of the tyre has rubbed the outside (that points away from the middle of the car) of the fuel pipe and a hole has been made. Sorry if this was not clear :)

Unless Fiat had the idea of putting breather holes on the fuel pipe itself, rather than the seperate breather tube pipe that runs alongside the fuel pipe. ;)

Cheers Jai :)

In the meantime, I have epoxy resined the holes and shoved the fuel pipe further down the neck on the tank to take up some of the slack on the pipe, which has now doubled the space between the pipe and the wheel. I also have cable tied the pipes a bit better which has also helped.

I also now own my first set of axle stands :D

Now, I need to be able to give my dad some instructions on how to remove the fuel pipe from the filler inlet as he will be trying to take it apart tomorrow and send the pipe to me. I had a look....and failed miserably. I can't even see how it is attached or what I need to do to get it apart. Does anyone have any idea with clear and easy instructions before I resort to the Haynes manual?

Is there a petrol resistant glue I can use to patch the holes?

I used some "two types of chemical that you mix together" type of glue, but I think I have the same problem :(

After I had done a patch up with the glue, and rejigged the pipework, the next time I filled up, it started leaking again :(

I really need to get this fixed ASAP otherwise I will really get in the **** at work.

Only other thing I can think of is a tire inner tube - I would disconnect the down pipe from the petrol tank, then slide the inner tube down the pipe until it covers the holes.
Only problem is if that then starts leaking as well :(

Any ideas guys?
My dad suggested epoxy resin, though doubt I have any, or if I can get hold of any easily. Maybe Focus (the local (but nationwide) hardware store will have some.
