As you may or may not know I use my Ulysse as a taxi.

Its been really good so far with not 1 single fault!

The car is perfect and definatly built for the job!

But........ there is one thing. I went for one with no electriic doors as I had visions of them being rubbish and going wrong all the time. How I now wish I had gone for one with electric doors. We being the owners of these fine vehicles know exactly how to open and close those rear doors. I'm sick of hearing from the back passengers "I can't close the door" in a normally pathetic tone of voice. My reply.... "pull the silver handle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and just because it snags a bit they say they can't do it which results in me having to get out and go round, flicking the silver handle with the door closing immediatly!

Is there a way of getting a motor fitted to the door with a simple open/close button in the cab. It doesn't have to be fancy like the Ulysse fitted with electric doors just a simple motor that is strong enough to close/open the door and a little open/close button somewhere in the cab.

I love the car to bits, best car I've ever owned but I don't think I can go on anymore!

If this is not possible then I may have to redo my hours so my customer base are not all idiots with far to much alcohol flying through their systems and that can simply open and close a door.

Sorry for the rant........ as you can tell by the time of posting that I've just finished a Friday night with a total count of 15 customers saying "drive, I can't close your door"

Many Thanks

Neil............. :bang:

The problem would be that a lot of force is needed to close the door and that needs some sort of protection to prevent the door cutting people up if they get in the way.
Can't imagine theres any easy way to do it.
Sorry.

Anyone have a rough idea on the price it would be for maybe Fiat to convert the doors to those found on a Ulysse with electric doors as standard?

If you could find a dealer willing to undertake the job, it would be a big (and expensive) undertaking as it's a bit more complicated than simply bunging in an electric motor..

God but I love the car way too much. I'm gutted! Can I remove the catch that holds the door locked in the open position so it just slides open and back? Would this be an MOT failure? I've decided not to sell though as the car is exactly what I want, infact, its perfect for me but not with the drunk customers used to "normal" doors.

1) Remove catch
2) Stick OPEN/CLOSE sticker above handle
3) Maybe fit a led in the door card next to the handle
4) Paint handle a more obvious colour

Maybe that would do the trick?

Spoke to a fellow cabbie with a Ulysse with electric doors and he was saying how he wished he went for one with manual doors as the customers keep pulling the doors or obstructing them so they go back. He was so against me getting electric doors! How bizzare!
