Morning, my wonderful Multipla now has 204k miles on the clock, I've owned "Mullins" from new but recently I have had a few problems with the radio, I thought it was just the standard radiogram had got old and had started to have a liking for interference, I bought a new Kenwood set and still had problems, I changed the aerial, no difference, I swopped the Kenwood for a new Sony, no difference, the biggest problem I have is that it will only pick up Heart FM and that makes me just a little annoyed, I've tried with the engine off, no difference, I reckon I might be looking at a dodgy joint on the loom? Anyone else had a problem?

Did you change the base of the aerial, or the 'mast'?

Changed base, mast, lead, tried seperate windscreen style aerial, just poor reception generally, will only seek to Heart FM will manually tune to other channels, I just popped the relays, all clean but cleaned anyway, disconnected car phone kit, sat nav, video recorder.....

Recent drive to Liverpool-London-Liverpool-Dorset hell without radio.

Had the same problem with my 2001 Petrol Multi (134,000 miles) - poor reception, only picked up a few stations.

Solved the problem by installing a new high quality 'amplified' aerial and run the cables (including a digital lead for future upgrade) behind the roof lining and trim. Had to drill out a bigger hole in the roof to take the new aerial (heart in mouth time...). Made sure there was a good 'ground' for the new aerial by sanding back the paint finish on the underside of the roof where the new aerial clamps on to.

Result - picks up many more stations than it ever did before.

perhaps your new aerial is not amplified or the grounding is poor?
