Well i finally got the right one for £72 from euro parts and fitted in about 30 minutes (y) really easy job on the multi.

How easy for a car dunce ? :)

I managed to change the crank sensor without any major concerns (thankfully owing to the excellent 'how to' guide) - Thinking of ordering a rad from Eurocarparts.com but I have a habit of making things hard for myself when fitting stuff.

Is it a case of.....

1. Removing the top cover
2. Drain rad
3. Undo pipes
4. Remove rad
5. Fit new rad
6. Reconnect pipes
7. Fill will fluid
8. Job done ?

By the way you need to remove the fan assembly from the old one and put it on the new one but again no probs and 5 mins.

Hi JTDman,

I am new to the Multipla and I ask myself - what about bleeding air out of the system ?

I have had some impossible airlocks in PSA Peugeot/Citroen engines in the past, and since then this sort of thing keeps me awake at night. Especially when I read about people's JTD Multipla heaters underperforming... Sounds familiar from my experiences with PSA engines ! In the Multipla I have found the 2 bleed nipples ontop of the radiator and the one at the firewall on the pipe going through to the radiator.

In my technical manual it just says "fill cooling system with coolant", great...

I just used the bleed on the upper right section of the rad while the heaters are on full.

Had a look at the radiator and it does look reasonably straightforward, two things left to consider though

Is this the right rad for my 2001 1.9 JTD ? http://www.adrad.co.uk/redesign/prices.php?id=FT435&model=MULTIPLA&make=FIAT

The hoses have a weird 'crimp' style clip rather than a jubilee clip, does I pull them off and bin them and replace with jubilee clips or is there some black magic that removes them and allows you to re-attach without any issues ?

Cheers

Yep that looks like the one, the only thing to be aware of is on mine from euro car parts that just above the bottom hose on the rad there was a hole that i assume is for another sensor which mine did not have.
I blanked it off with a blank i happend to have , it was not a problem as i think halfrauds sell various ones but just be aware of it.
And yes ditch the original hose clips and fit jublee.

out of interest, how many 'chunks' should be visible on the temp gauge, normal running? Did them rising cause you to change... or leaks?

Mines just the sx it doesnt have a temp gauge , it just has a temp warning symbol.
It spewed its guts out on the motorway and got a little smokey :D.

Mine usually runs at 3 sections and slow to get up to it which worried me initially but seems to be just the way with this engine.
However, I am flushing system/changing coolant this week sometime so will let you know if this alters anything. :)
