radiator needed for 1.8hlx

first of all this is my first post so hello everyone.

i had an uninsured driver hit me head on in january and have finally just finished rebuilding the front end today and it is now ready to be sprayed, the only problem is i need a radiator before i can drive it to the garage. as i live in cornwall there is only one breakers yard down here and i have been ringing them every week for the past six weeks but no luck - to make matters worse fiat have quoted me near on £600.

so please if anyone has one or knows where i can get one it would be much appreciated.

i'm from camborne - i've tried combellacks, illogan car spares, duckworths with no luck. the only one that has a bravo is drews (macsalvage) but it's not the right one.

do you know any other places i could try? thanks.

There is a 1.4 sx bravo at a place called St Austell Vehicle Recycling center which is between St Austell and St Stevens. I was there a couple of weeks ago getting some parts. It had only minor front end damage . . . (and is now missing a sunroof )

im not sure if the rad will fit the 1.8 i not sure if they would me much different.

combellacks had some brava's and marea's last time i was there (about a month ago) dont know what engine's though.

im supprised ive not seen you around i been going too cambourne college for the last 2 years every thuresday! . .

If you have no luck with the scrappys, that link lozz has posted sounds like a fair price.

i'm sure you would have seen me around as i've been going same college for the last three years (only 1 more year to go). i have 2 bravos - rossa 1.8 and an ice blue one. i take it you have a bravo? it wouldn't by any chance be a burnt orange colour?

Nope ive got a Ink Black 1.8 hlx . .

I remember seeing that orange one parked up at the back of college alot by the student bar.

Ive got to go down there soon to drop some bits for my nvq off and get my exhaust serviced at the powerflow place by mc d's.. its never been right but i doubt they do much to it

As you two are down that way you may be able to answer something for me.

What's the deal with the Cambourne - Redruth rivalry? Tesco have just opened a new store near there and the Cambourne people said they wouldnit shop there if it was called Redruth Extra and the Redruth lot said they wouldn't shop there if it was called Cambourne Extra. It's now called Pool Extra which is inbetween. lol!

this doesn't look like it is for a 1.8 hlx with aircon, it also looks like its a mk1 as it says its upto sept 98.

but as long as your not mk2 and you don't have aircon then you'll be fine

it gets a bit more complicated than that, i'll try to explain....

there has always been rivalry between the two towns; camborne has had a tescos for years and redruth had one built couple of years ago and now the big tescos has been built one of the others is gonna have to shut down - so as you can imagine both towns are trying to claim it, the complicated bit is what town it is in (i live here and still don't understand). the tescos is in pool but pool is in tuckingmill which is in camborne and technically camborne is classed as redruth - confused yet coz i am.

anyway i don't care because i shop in morrisons.

I'm a Project Manager for Tesco and my project (new design checkout) has gone live in that store. The staff told me the whole story to explain why I had to stop calling it Redruth.

Similar rivalries everywhere though it has to be said. For me, being from Wisbech in Cambridgeshire (originally) the same thing would have happened with March or Kings Lynn.

My hlx has got aircon aswell. its a nightmware getting parts as aircon is only an optional extra on the 1.8 .. my alternator went at last month and i spent 2 weeks phoneing breakers up and down the country trying to get a salvaged one or a refurbed one. in the end i had to fork out £210 for a new one cause they just didnt have any nowhery and apparently there is only one kind of alternator that will fit the 1.8 with aircon.

it might be worth talking to fiat, the hgt rad may fit the 1.8 as i cant see it being so engine specific between the two models.

Somebody on here may be able to give you a more definate answer on that though.

Try phoning Fiat and ask them if the part numbers are the same for the 1.8 and HGT with aircon.

i phoned up combellacks again this morning and i couldn't believe it when they said they had a 1.8hlx in, so i jumped in my car spent hour and half in traffic at indian queens and when i got there they had already taken it out for me (nice blokes). to top it all off they only charged me £50 for the whole radiator and air con setup.

thanks everyone for your advice and help.

only need it sprayed now and my baby will be back on the road.
