ive got polys...whats the best light setup (bulbs) to use, where to get them and cost...

HiDS, funnily enough I just got a set today - better be dry tomorrow!!! Cost £135 delivered off ebay (good find Joske )

trying not to be thick..but can someone explain what hids are...i was hoping that i could just do some sort of bulb change,

As you asked, that's the best light set up, it's a much brighter and whiter light.
