Technical quick engine question

can a later mk2/3 punto 1242 8v MPI engine run as SPI?, is it a case of just swapping inlet manifolds and TB's or is there more to it, the engines look so similar and there is one low milage for sale close to me,

MPi heads do have a different stud spacing to SPi heads. Thats not to say that with a bit of jiggery pokery you couldn't get the MPi head and manifold to work in an SPi car, but it ain't easy peasy.

The MPi doesn't give any more power in standard tune, its an emissions based set up rather than power.

cheers . Im thinking about putin 2 in a x1/9. Do they have ECUs . Im thinkin 2 bike carbs is that pos . I was going to put bike engines in but do you see the cost ove the gearbox :slayer:

Don't think it makes any sense. Why not put 1 2litre engine in the X19? Why wreck a rare car?

If you do it, it's easier to use the ECUs: carbs are so 1970s!

I want 4WD from a small car. Carbs from a bike engine give you 20% more power than 1s from a car .Itl be fun to drive a x1/9 4WD

4 WD without clever diffs really doesn't cut it on tarmac: I know, I have a Scoobie without the clever stuff, and it handles like a barge. Off road, it's a different matter.

Like for like, carbs offer no top end advantage over injection and loose out on mid range.
