Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

I remember some of the old threads about fitting Marea door handles to a Bravo, and since my drivers one disintergrated even more in the recent cold weather, I would like to replace both but I just want to make sure I've got my facts straight!

Firstly, do the Marea rear door ones fit ok for the 'de-locked' look!?!

Do they come pre painted/can you order them in the correct colour!?!

Are they sold as a pair or do left and right rear handles have different product codes!?!

What sort of fitting time would I be looking at for the pair....is it as fairly straight forward as the guides make it out to be!?!

Cheers,

Gaz B

1) yes
2) no
3) no
4) it will take you about 1 1/2 hours to fit both.

Cheers....just to clear up point three though...was your 'no' answer to them coming as a pair or to them having different product codes!?! :)

Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

sorry, they are not sold as pairs. the price is about £26 each and should cost you about £20/£30 to get the pair sprayed.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

my car is in the bodyshop next week getting my kit fitted and sprayed so i thought what the hell get them to spray me some marea handles at the same time, so i went to my fiat parts department today and ordered the set of rear handles they are £19.44 each primed and ready to paint. so for less then £40 you can have the pair.

Thx Martin :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

thats plus vat. ? or they got the price wrong.

this is all very good but what about the locks? How do you lock the car? Do you have to install an alarm with remote central locking as well?

Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

whilst we on the subject...

do u reckon if u do this, the paint will last long on the handles? i can imagine them getting scratched straight away as the handles are not completley solid, they have a very slight spongey feel to them, hence the paint will crack? or ami wrong? as i wanna do this mod too,

Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

if you r going to the meet on sunday, you can have a lok at mine. they have been on the car for over 6 months now, and r still as good as new.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

You do need remote central locking and if it fails you can still climb through the boot. I think you can get remote central locking kits cheap, but my car came with a clifford alarm/remote central locking system.

OR

Just get the front handles off the marea, they can be body-coloured and still have locks on. Or drivers side with lock, rear marea handle for the passenger door.

I paid £50 for two of mine, are u sure that included VAT bahney?

Also, I think they are made of a different material than the standard ones so won't go spongy. I have had mine for a month and they are still perfect.

Aren';t the marea front handles slightly smaller than that of the bravo?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

don't think so, but could be wrong

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Questions about Marea rear door handles!?!

I've been to the local scrappy and bought all the door handles on a Marea.

The answer is, the rear door handles will fit but will need part of the cast iron frame to be cut off.

The reason for this is, the handles are different in the way they are bolted to the doors. (Plus one has key lock).

They dont actually connect properly since infact they are the wrong fitting.

Anyway, what i did was, i removed the plastic handles from the cast frames & barrel locks and what i then did was, i replaced the front door casting with the rear door handles. This then makes, a keyless door handle, with a perfect fitting to be bolted to the front doors. This handle will now easily replace the old door handles. No cutting is required.

If you try www.bravo-guide.co.uk you'll find information about the Marea handles but that method includes cutting away at the handle casts.

My way is alot better and secure, i also reckon that you can get away with using the casts from the front door handles of the bravo. So that you can get the fittings correct. You can remove the lock barrel.

You will require central locking to do this.

Ok this is my second guide to be written up by me, the first one was fitting Marea Headlihgts which can be found on the Bravo-Guide.co.uk. I've done this by request for Bahney, and i hope this helps you out mate.

I've just made my own version of fitting the Marea door handles without the need for cutting.

These handles can be screwed in back to normal the same way the old bravo handles had been removed.

You can print it from the link below.

I have included alot of pics to show you what needs to be done.

I hope this helps you out Bahney and anyone else who needs help.

You can buy Marea door handles in black plastic or with primer. They cost between £23-£26 each. If you intend to colour code the handles then buy the already primed handles.

Its not worth spraying it yourself, costs too much for paint, laquer, wet & dry etc, but you can get the door handles sprayed at a body shop for about £10 each.
