Question for 1.8 owners only, (or 2.0 maybe)

i need to strip the engine cover that i sprayed a while ago and what i want to know is would it be ok to have the cover off while drivin around, reason bein is i`m usin nitromorz (if thats how u spell it) to strip the paint and then resray it a few days after?
can anyone help as i dont want damage the engine in anyway by doin this

i need some bolts for my 1.2 engine cover as when they fixed the head gasket on my car in garage the lost the bolts and now i dont have the cover on engine. anyone got some?

i wouldn't imagine it to be a problem, ive got a 1.8 and my covers off now as i need a new coil pack and havnt bothered putting the cover back on, while im waiting for the part.

only problem mite be is if water gets in there where the sparks plugs\coil packs are but ive never seen water on the top of my cover before

@Giffy the 1.2 is fine without its plastic cover, get some at a scrappy, or i'm sure fiat will sell you some, i lost 1 of mine when redoing the head, they are attached to a post with attaches to the engine, is it the nut part you've lost or the whole thing?

It's matt black. Not quite sure, I like the fact its black but not sure if I'd rather it to be satin finish. Gloss is a no no, as thats too swish for me

@Seb- cheers mate for the offer but i`ve already got one i`m just in the process of re-doin mine, hence respray.

@Insy- i`ve got matt black temperature spray paint myself and imo its brightens up the engine bay, matt black i think makes it look a bit dull, no offence there.
got a can from supertune so the color will match the car,
i just need to strip the paint that i put on before and that will probably take a day to do

on a different note- how do you take the fiat badge off as i`m goin to have to pay a visit to the scrappys tomoro for another badge

Rather than using nitromors, you might as well sand it back a bit and go from there?

Insy, definitely not matt. it just looks like it needs cleaned in the pic, and i reckon in the metal, it wont look like you've done anything to it. so you might as well not have done anything to it
I abandoned my polishing idea partly because i was selling it, and partly because i didn't have the mops or polishing compounds, which meant spening cash on something that was for sale, lol. But i've always wanted a polished engine bay. even more OT in this post, my skodas engine bay is all plastic shrouds, like the bravo 1.2, so not much polishing there, and the Passat TDI i've got my eye on is the same, lol. wee bit disappointed.

anyway, you should take advantage of having a metal cover, and get it shiny, even if you do that using paint.
