I am considering buying a 1 yr old Qubo, partially because of the official combined fuel consumption of 64 to 68 mpg claimed. Looking at the Honest John real fuel consumption figures submitted by owners this would appear to be wildly exaggerated. The real range is 44 to 53 which is worse than my 1,3 multijet Doblo. Any comments appreciated. Incidently the real consumption for the Doblo are only a few mpg below official figures for a 2006 Doblo. Keep the Doblo

Morning al68,

The Honest John figures are about right. I have done 60 odd MPG, but I've also done in the high 40s. Maybe keep the Doblo....

Cheers Qube O.

Morning gang!

i'd agree with qube o on the figures...round town tend to get between 41-45mpg and recent run to co durham averages 60 odd MPG...figures are a vast improvement on the last car we had (large 1.6 D citreon)

i'd say stick with the doblo....

We have had people on here with the 1.3/75 HP Qubo claiming over 60 MPG and it wasn't an isolated case or two. I'm sure that if you go through the Qubo forum you'll find the posts and then you can contact the owners.

I have a Trekking 95 HP and I've gotten as little as 5.6/100 Km (50 UKMPG) but normally I get 6.0 to 6.2/100 and maybe a little more as I've been running the AC recently.

I previously had a 1.9jtd Doblo and that returned slightly better mpg than my 1.3mj Qubo. Although I like the Qubo, I regret changing from the Doblo which gave a much better driving experience.

Agreed...if i'd have had the cash at the time the doblo would have been a definate choice

dont get me wrong though...two of us & a 2yr old child the qubo copes with everything we throw at it (although sometimes the body roll was quite noticeable) love the qubo as it is but as others in the past have said it really really could have done with an engine with more punch

do still like the odd looks people give me though as I drive past..hmm could it be the car or i'm too ugly!

The fuel figures for todays car are taken from a rolling platform, which means the car is pulling no weight, and to be honest the figures are false.
The 75bhp M/J engine does the job required of it, but has to be worked, so fuel consumpption will be high. Put it on the M/way at a steady 70mph in fifth gear, and yes you will get 60-65 mpg. Our qubo would do Edinburgh to Ulverston "188 miles", using just under 3 gallons, where as our new car "kia Venga 1.4crdi" doing the same trip returns between 72-77mpg, but it does have a sixth gear.
If economy is a priority, then there are better cars out there than the Qubo,.
The Qubo is a good bit of kit, but it does hane known issues with suspension, but to be honest i've never known such a willing little engine.
All the very best in your search.

Cheers Ian

Hi Fellow 'Qubist' all,

Just back from a 'long week-end' away, I was aware of these posts before we went away, so thought I would take accurate readings and post them up here.

We live about 15 mile north of Birmingham, and travelled to Manchester, (Media City), about 2 miles west of Manchester City Centre. As we are very close to the M6 motorway that was our route, up the M6, which has a couple of motorway type inclines, then on to the M62, then the M602 which takes us to within 2 mile of our destination.

The car was fuelled up to the top, had 4 adult passengers, and a load of luggage in the back. After joining the M6 our speed never dropped below 68, and peaked at 86. These figures are taken from my speed camera detection device, accurate to a point of a percent. Unlike the cars speedo which is optimistic. The weather was cool, so no air-con was used, and our mpg for the outward leg was 52.8.

The return was slightly different, firstly the weather was sticky so air-con was in constant use, after going back on the M602-M62 we joined the M6 Northbound, to go up to Warrington for the purpose of picking up my sister to go out for a family meal. The total mileage for this diversion was 33, and after picking my sister up we had 5 adults in the car, plus more luggage in the back, (the daughters had been shopping), sigh!!

After dropping my sister off, we rejoined the M6 for home, our speed on the return never dropping below 67, and peaking at 87. At no time was the car underpowered, most of both journeys been run either in the central lane of the motorways, or the outside lane, where we had no problem keeping up with the Range Rovers, BMWs, Mercs, e.t.c.. The return mpg being 48.9.

So all in all, I'm well happy, for a 1.3 75hp, no problems with speed, or pulling power, flew to the few motorway inclines, and at that speed, with the load in the car I think the mpg was great.

Take care,
Cheers Qube O.....
