Hi can anyone tell me if the Punto GT Turbo 1.4 block is the same as the UT 1.4 block? Is it a straight swap?

Cheers

Ok say I removed an UT enigne from the car, swapped the block with the Punto block than put the engine back into the Uno, will it run and work 100%?

I had been told the Punto block preduces more compression, is this true and would it effect the running of the enigne?

Thanks

Compression ratios would be decided by the combustion chamber bowls in the head and by the shape of the pistons, very doubtful that the block would be modified to change this. Most of the extra power on the mk2 Turbo came from a higher boost and different turbocharger, not by compression.

Your block warped? Seems to recall reading that many of the UT blocks were warped. As for direct swap unsure. Try asking on Sporting Fiats Club if you don't get an answer here.

Hi

No, I have top half of Uno engine but no bottom. I can get hold of Punto block to make it a whole engine. So this is why I need to know.

Cheers

Thanks for your help everyone, but I've decided to source an UT block, much easier really, but harder to find :)

Thanks again

Yes, but there are 2 different GT blocks, well pistons actually. 1 is exactly the same as an Uno. The other has higher compression, dont get that one. The pistons you want are flat.
