punto sump

My 03 punto 1.2 active sport [mk 2 ?] 41k needs new sump. FIAT want £282 - is this about right? my car seems very new to need this.

no that is totaly over the top price, they are less than £100 new even from fiat, and about an hour for them to fit with car up on a lift, even if you add the cost of new oil an filter it sounds way too much.
what town are you in?

That price is way over the top. You should shop around at different garages to get alternative quotes. You could also contact Fiat and ask for their advice as 5 years is way too early for a sump to fail from rust. Ask in the Punto section as there might even be a known recall for it.

Thanks for replies/info.
Seems to be a lot of probs with punto sumps and getting seals good following fitting - maybe best to let FIAT do it then any probs after can be sorted by FIAT?

depends where you live, and if your fiat garage is one of the good or bad ones.
if you tell us a town maybe some one will recomend a good place to get it done

Local FIAT garage been good in the past but expensive.
