The front washer and wipers work fine, but at the the rear only the wiper works - no water sprays from the jet when the switch is operated.

What can be causing this?

Thanks.

if you get someone to stand at the back while you operate the jets they will see water coming from bottom of tailgate if pipe has come loose. one screw located in recess holds backpanel secure ,,the rest are push clips on outer edge of panel which should prise loose

Thanks for all your replies i will be checking it out at weekend and get back to you sunday let you know how its going.:)

hi

I have the same problem with mine, I have had a look under the bonnetand there is a little valve on the pipe leading from the washer fill bottle and it squirts out of there my guess is that meand you have a blockage somewhere along the line the motor works as you can hear itand I have pin pricked the holes where the water is supposed to come out of on the back window wiper.

Do you mean the T shaped join under the bonnet? Does it squirt out of the center of the round bit in the middle?

I think you will find if it is just your rear wash not working, it will just be the pipe has popped off inside the tailgate...just carefully remove the interior panel, a couple of screws and then carefully pull away then reconnect the pipe :)

It's a common problem in winter...the water freezes, and unlike front washers, there is no heat from engine to de-frost. You then try to make it work, pressure builds and pipe pops off...easy answer, dont use in the winter when icy :)

I have the same problem and the pipes are still connected and the washer bottle is full. When I push the stalk forward there is a whirring noise under the bonnet but there is no water leaking from anywhere. The pipes aren't split anywhereand they are still connected all the way along. Any idea what the problem could be here?

I know its a pain ,,but have you tried disconnecting the pipe at the wash/wipe motor and seeing if there is water at that point ,,if so then its probably just blocked jets that you clean out with a pin.I found mine had a split pipe where it runs between the body and the tailgate, a simple matter of cutting out the split piece and putting in a connector

My back one isitn working, i have taken the back panel off, but i carnt see were the pipe is ment to go :s

stick a pin in the hole, it could just be that the hole is partially blocked.

Mine is still whirring under the bonnet, sounds like the noise is coming from under the washer bottle but can't see until I get the wheel arch lining out. Is there a pump that pumps water out of the bottle for the back washer that might have stopped working? There is no leaking anywhere under or in the car and the washer bottle is full so my only thought is that the water isn't being drawn out of the washer bottle.

Hi, i have taken the cover off from the boot, undone 3 alen keys, but carnt see were the pipe goes!
Im gessing there is a hole on the 60s model,
Has someone got a pic, or tell me how to find, it
Thanks in advance

its located on the black spindle , hope the photo helps

all mk1's have the same crappy washer unit thing, it doesnt' really come apart.

dont' bothr trying to take the motor off, it really doesn't help and could cause more problems if you put in on wrong.

it coming out but just a driblle is likely that the little jet thing has been turned around at some point, I thought it would be a good idea to re-align mine, but messed it upcomplelty.

there is a black flat screw on the right side (think), that angles it, DO NOT turn it more than a fraction of a degree, otherwiseit will go inside itself and you'll never ever get it right again

Have you got a pic of that, not sure if i did anything when i put my private plates on

hope you can make it out from this picture, if you remove the wiper arm its easy to get at, but be careful its only a bit of plastic
