I wonder if you guys can give me some advice please? I've just had a new engine fitted on my Fiat Punto- car is still at the garage - but the keys aren't working. The garage has told me they'll contact the Fiat dealership and see if they can sort it out but that I may need new keys which could cost extra.
I don't know a great deal about cars but it seems to me they should have known that changing the engine would cause the immobiliser to kick in and for key code issues to arise. If so I feel they should have quoted me this at the beginning.
Can you please tell me what the deal is? Should they have known? Should they have quoted me a cost or at least told me to contact Fiat? Also, what's an ECU? Is that something to do with it?
Any help you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks.
