Right i have had enough of mt silly 1.2 16v engine now, does anyone know how easy it will be to put the gt turbo engine from a mk1 into my mk2? What will i need? as in ecu etc etc...

I would appreciate it if someone can help me out or knows of any going!

Thanks
Luke Nicholls

Thanks will be given :)

Buy a punto GT, crash damaged would get it cheaper. Strip the Wiring out, gearbox and Engine, Rear beam, uprights. well those depend on how different a mk1 is. but you will basically need the lot, possibly including clocks.

Unless you go for a different Engine management set up.

Thanks for your reply, thanks will be given! It sounds like quite a big job? How easy is al this to do to change the engine? Im guessing i will need the ecu off the gt the engine itself, all wiring for electric windows etc, ill need new exhaust system i guess? or is it just the manifold?

Hi mate, its not straight forward at all.

You will need to run a stand alone ecu for the engine, but will also need to keep the standard mk2 ECU and BCU etc as almost all electrical items such as electric windows. central locking, even interior courtesey light etc are run from them. You will also need new clocks etc etc. Its a big project.

Hope that helps
Alan

With Dave on this one. Doesn't look too cared for, worth scrap value tbh. Engine with suspect HG failure. could even be a cracked head. keep looking, spend the money now, and save more money later if you're determined to go down the GT route.

Thanks for all your help guys really appreciate it, just a quick question, if i was to get the gt engine and took my car somewhere where they would fit it, how much do you think labour will be to convert the whole thing approximately?

Thanks
Luke
