punto mk engine light stays on

hello there. i have just joined so i hope all is well and everyone is ok. i have just bought a punto mk2 1.8 hgt. fortunately it has a unichip fitted and an induction kit. BUT for some reason the engine light stays on. can anyone help me plz???????
