I've just intalled a new Blaupunkt Modena CD53 head unit into a mates' 2001 Punto Sporting, replacing the OEM Fiat / Blaupunkt radio cassette. Tha car also has a factory option Blaupunkt IDC-A 09 5 disc changer in the centre console, which used to run through the std head unit. The new Modena head unit went in ok, and powered up the changer, is able to select discs but they wont play.

Then it gets really weird... you go to start the car - put the immobiliser key in, immobiliser disarms, turn the key, car starts, and a terrible squeaking / thumping / squeaking noise comes through the speakers!!! Turn off the stereo, and it fades out. Then you notice dash lights flashing, petrol guage dropping... well weird!

I unplugged the DMS plugs from the stereo and all is well again - the stereo works ok when not connected to the changer. I think I know what the problem is, but not how to solve it... If you don't disable the immobiliser, the OEM stereo would show 'Check' on the display... so there must be some link between the immobiliser and the stereo wiring. This is what also must be stopping the changer from working with the new stereo...

So has anyone any idea which wires I would need to disconnect / rewire for everything to work properly? Anyone come across this problem before? Help - my mate's gutted his new stereo isn't playing nicely...
