New on here so hello all :),
I have a small niggle with my 1.9 JTD Punto & would be very grateful for any help given.
It is a 2001 model with 75kmiles on the clock, bought 6 months ago to get me to work & back & so far has done me proud. I have a 20 mile trip to work 18 of which are on the A1 (UK dual carriage way) so hardly need to use the gears !
My only problem with the car is the poor acceleration, particularly when joining the fast traffic on the dual carriage way, it really does struggle to pick up enough speed to merge safely with the traffic (I'm usually doing 40-45mph where 50-60mph would be better). When the engine has warmed up a bit & the turbo kicks in (around 2200 revs) the car goes like a little rocket & I'm doing 80mph before I know it, then slow down to 70 !), although since the weather turned cooler the turbo doesn't kick in anywhere near as early, if at all. If the turbo isn't playing ball then the engine seem to hit a wall around 2500 revs & it won't pick up speed. I could live with it if I commuted on country lanes but as I mentioned earlier I use the dual carriage way & trying to merge with fast traffic is no fun. I have read a few threads regarding an EGR valve but don't know if that applies to a diesel Punto ?
Thanks
