Punto 1998 S Reg Central Locking issues

Hey all...
I'm pretty new to the Fiat Punto system. I recentlyt bought a 1998 S Reg, which is in pretty good nick... But the central locking seems to have a mind of its own. I've fiddled with the fuse etc, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. As soon as that ignition goes on, the locks flick up and down. I've been told to disconnect the master box and lock it manually until I get a new one, but what the 'helpful' mechanic didn't tell me, was where it was situated. Any help guys? Please? The box is situated in the boot of the punto, on the right hand side underneath behind the right speaker its a little black box with a green light on it
