Damnit. Driving home from a huge family meal and I could hear a ticking sound. Turned out to be a massive screw in my tyre!

Took it out to hear PSSSHHHHH !!

Tyre deflated completely in a matter of seconds.

Fortunately it was repaired by Kwik Fit for £17.50 which I thought was a bit steep but was assured it would be fine.

Just wondering, has anyone had a puncture repaired and suffered issues afterwards?

Hiya mate had a puncture myself last week and just for a heads up to every1, i used the old tyre weld to re-inflate it as it was cold and tbh i couldnt be bothered getting the spare out, i also went to kwik-fit only to be told they could not repare it as the glue reacts with the tyre weld so had to purchase new tyre, (not happy is it just me or do all these problems happen around chrimbo), but any way to answer your question previous tyres i have had repared i have not had any problems with :)

Puncture repairs near me are £5 aslong as the hole isn't more than 6 or 8mm (not 100% sure which) and is not within 25% of the edge of the tyre. Funny thing is they wont fit you new tyres (provide your own) for £5. Its £10 per tyre or £30 for 4.

Anyway, I've experienced two types of puncture repairs.

1st one was on my old alloys, a massive bolt went through the centre of the tyre, it was the biggest hole that they could possibly fix an 8mm bung was used to repair it. They vulcanised it and never had problems since, i run the tyres down to just above legal and were fine.

2nd one i got was recently into my new tyres, a small nail went into the edge of the tyre just where the thread starts above the sidewall. Due to the nature of where the puncture was it was 50/50 to whether it could be repaired. Standard places couldn't repair it, so i went to a tyre specialist who did a type of advance puncture repair, they have special presses to repair tyres with punctures on the rim/corners. Anyway cost me £35, which was cheaper than a new tyre plus fitting. Still rolling on it today with no problems and no unusual loss in pressure over time.

I wouldn't worry about it. Forget about having it repaired, it won't cause you no grief.
