OK, I have just had a replacement engine put in my Bravo TD100SX (long story).

We have two problems.
1. The is a small solenoid on the firewall, with a small vacuum hose that doesn't appear to go anywhere. Can anybody tell me where this attaches to at the other end, or should it vent to atmosphere?

2. After having had the battery disconnected for a couple of weeks, we are unable to start the car. The keycode light will not entinguish, even if I use the red key. What gives? I thought the red key was the one to use if your battery went flat, and then you could recode the blue keys.

HELP!!

Engine

Are you the same guy who posted the other week about needing a replacement engine?

I take it you were given a exact replacement engine (100TD)??

Can't understand why you would have any hose spare if it is the same engine. Haynes manuals don't include the diesel engines, although I'm sure your local Fiat dealer would enlighten you as to where to put it.

Yeah, for a fee!! I'll get them to take a look while they recode eveything.

Talk to Fiat

I think you have no choice but to talk to Fiat about the code light not going out. It may be something to do with you breaking the connection between the CODE decoder (in the car) and the engine ECU which Fiat may know something about. Or have you used the ECU of the new engine rather than the original ECU? That would cause grief.

Re: Talk to Fiat

No, original ECU.

Anybody have a chance to check that hose on their own car for me yet?

Re: Re: Talk to Fiat

OK, now I'm really depressed.

Just had a phone call from the garage that's been fitting the engine. They towed my car to the local fiat deal this am. They plugged it into their machines and diagnosed that the engine module was wrong. It seems in addition to the ECU, there's also a little module hidden under the fuel pump, and of course, the original one off my car is sitting on the old engine. If we had known while the new engine was out of the car it would be quite an easy job, but now the engines in, it's a big PITA job to get the fuel pump off, change the module and set all the fuel pump timing back up again.
...And to make things worse, the garage bloke goes on holiday tomorrow, so it's going to have to go to another garage to be done.
Aaaaarrrrgggghhh!!
