General Problems with Handbrake coming away from body :(

Has any1 had problems with the handbrake???

The mech seems to workl fine but the fitting for the handbrake has come away from the body bout an inch so it doesnt tighten, Needs sorting MOT due march, is t worth fixing? any1 had similar problems??
