Technical Problem with shocks/suspension?

Not very knowledgable on cars but i have a fiat marea 1.8 elx and as of yesterday the rear passenger side wheel seems to be juddering a lot and it feels as though when i go over any bumps that the rear passenger side of the car keeps hitting something solid, wondered if anyone else has had any similar problems and if so was it the shocks or suspension and how much it would cost to fix it or what they did to fix it, ive only had it just over a week and other than this problem the car has been great :/ just a pain that this had to happen

The noise is problem the suspension hitting the top mount/buffer thing.

I think it may be the shocks. They're probably not recovering fast enough after each pot hole or bump etc.

My 1.8 Weekend has been very rubbish over pot holes etc., but it passed the MOT fine, so I dunno if it is really a problem.

i think im going to get it looked at by one of these exhaust/shock absorber garage places, see if thats the problem and if so how much it will cost to get the shocks replaced, whether its dangerous or not the banging sound and excessive bouncing is really getting on my nerves (and its only been as bad as this just over a day :-S )

I was silly enough to let a Fiat main dealer change a shock while it was in for a cambelt change. Shock £81, Labour £46. So take that as a maximum cost.

My Marea is also banging over bumps but its not the shock absorbers it is the bottom bushes, at only £12 + vat each it might be worth checking these out .
As there are 2 bushes per side its not that expensive to do the hole lot either

Thanks for the welcome polecat, think i might be wise to get the cambelt changed while im at it too, not sure if the previous owner had the cambelt changed before he part exchanged it for his newer car :-S the cost is mounting up now lol

and thanks splinter, think im going to have a look see if its the bushes too, could be a bit cheaper than having the shocks replaced :-S

gonna have to be asap because everytime i go over a bump im cringing cos im expecting the next bang to be the back end of the car falling off (i know im being paranoid now lol)
