Hei.

Under the left side of your car there is a pressure regulating valve, which purpose is to brake the rear wheels, not blocking them under heavy breaking. Some kind of load proportioning. This valve is attached with a spring and is fairly easy to find. Just look right in front of the rear wheel on the left side. It's a tension spring attached there as well.

This valve is not repairable, but it is adjustable if still intact. You'll propably have to get new one.

It is a bugger to get off and you might damage your brake pipes pulling it off - especially if there is plenty of corrosion which there was on mine. Despite what is commonly thought I found that taking it off and easing it with lots of grease loosened it and it was fully usable again. Common problem on all cars that rarely carry weight at the rear.

If not you might find a good one at a scap yard (but most will probably be also corroded!).

Good luck!

Yes, give it a load of oil, grease or similiar. I neither drive or leave my Uno without WD-40 in the boot.

Paul: Mine is working perfectly, as I always carry wheight in the rear. Kid, stroller, baby-stuff, groceries (diapers), mother-in-law etc. etc. etc.

Good, it happened to my dad's scenic when we first bought it a few years old and it failed the MOT (the test you must take in the UK to say that your car is roadworthy) for it. The same happened on my Uno but my grandfather helped me take it off and work it loose and now i hope it works well (I have a couple of six foot friends and we go to McDonalds every wednesday lunch so hopefully they sort it out).

WD40 works well normally but i remember when we tried to use it on the load compensator/proportionating unit the brake pipes into it were VERY solid and wouldn't even shift with parafin. Spent ages trying to remove the pipes without shearing them so that i was able to remove the valve. If you break these brake pipes you end up having to replace a long distance of it - time consuming!

You need a special shape of spanner for the brake pipes also and you MUST be careful not to force them off!

Thanks a lot for your replies, i will trying doing something today, i will probably grease it or fill it up with WD40. I dont think i will risk taking it off, btw in malta we have MOT too but thank god we dont go in so much detail,(we are still a bit backwards in technology) :) i did that lately and the 16 year old uno did quite well for its age..

Cool, nice one and thanks again

P.S its starnge English guys have Unos haha :)

regards

No, please dont take it personal, but its strange cause knowing its an italian car. It sounds strange haha. Sorry for my ignorance :D
So you guys have uno turbo's or just normal ones, i mean like mine?

You drive on the wrong side of the road too, don't you? On the left side? So does the people in the UK. So because the made too many left-sided cars to fit at Malta, they exported some to England as well. :)

Well, if I think a bit longer: It's actually more logic to be driving on the left side than on the right side as I'm doing. In earlier times there were knights that fought with lances (right word?) and I suppose most of them were right-handed, and had to hold their lances with it. So they had to fight against each others while riding the horse on the left side. Just a thought... Don't kick my ass for not knowing history better. B)

Plenty of unos in the UK although dying out. I have a 1.0 litre Uno I.E start which is one of the cheapest cars to buy in the UK.

We drive on the right side, not the wrong side, the right being the left :p Yes, the story does apparently go back to lances and knights but tradition is horrible in so many ways. I enjoy driving on the right, it makes left turns easier hehe!

hey guys please dont take it personal!!!I was just making a statement!!:) Relax!!

:D:D:D

In England you drive on the right cause we drive on the right, haha you copied us..only joking don't take it personal..

P.S I didn't mean to offend you english guys, i love england and i love my girlfriend, she's English too!!:)
