I live in France and have just had to have my whole cluch replaced. It cost me 1595 Euros..... Is this normal or have i been completely ripped off ??:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Sounds rather expensive to me, I have seen a 2003 for sale in N Ireland for £4000 so even a year newer would not be that much more,How does a clutch get that bad without replacement that a new flywheel is needed? Does anybody skim flywheels anymore?. Have we really become that much of a throw away society? No wonder all the former Eastern block mechanics are doing so so well, they still know how to repair things!!!!

Its not that the clutch wears so much that the flywheel needs replacing, its that the flywheel on some is Dual Mass, and this should be replaced with the clutch, as the mechanism inside will wear, and this give symptoms like a slipping clutch, but if left, the clutch can be damaged too, thus both needing replacing again.

I recently had to replace the clutch on a Vectra C as the DMF had failed. The clutch had only been changed 10 days earlier. The owner thought that they could save some money on not getting the DMF replaced as well. In the end, they had to replace the clutch (Twice) and the flywheel, as well as pay for the labor to strip it all down twice.

They insisted that they didn't want it replacing the first time. I remember as they drove it away after just the clutch "Well, The customer is always right..."

Didn't think DMFs were on the 04 models,I know they are on more modern units, maybe because of the extra torque the 2.2 had them as standard,???,

They replaced 2 round disks things a really big one with teeth and a smaller one. It wasn't slipping at all just went completely.
