Hey fellas,

Just ran on a problem on my uno - can't find whats wrong maybe any 1 can help??

Today I went to start the car, and I spent 1 minute pressing the gas, the motor turns but car won't start.. tried starting without gas pedal down, after several attempts the car started.. Idle was good (800 - 1000k) but when I press the car pedal, the engine cuts out and after for like 3 seconds, it gets ok. But as soon as I release the gas pedal, and press it down again, same problem occur for ever. Engine looses power, cuts out and will be ok after like 2- 3 seconds. Im also smelling a curious smell. :S

what could be the problem? I cleaing the idle and main jets on the carburettor but still nothing :S

What engine?

Check if there is power at electric valve (anti flooding device), at bottom of the carb (my Uno 60 1108cc has it there).

It's not an anti flooding device, it's an idle circuit cut off valve used to stop "running on" when the ignition is switched off ;)

There is also an anti stall device on the Weber 32TLF carburettor but that uses a vacuum diaphragm to activate the throttle butterfly when manifold pressure drops too low.

As to the OP's problem, possibly flooding? If the funny smell is petrol fumes from the exhaust then definitely a problem with the carb running too rich.

Any other symptoms for us to go on?
