Hi all,

I have an Abarth 500 but posting here for visibility plus the issue isn’t isolated to the Abarth, but rather applicable to all 500s.

Basically my power window won’t roll back up after opening. I know there are two relays on the body computer PCB in the driver footwell where one is responsible for the down movement and the other for up. I can hear a clearly audible click on the down relay, but only a very faint click when pressing the up button.

What I know:
- passenger side works fine and clicks as should
- switched the buttons around to eliminate faulty button possibility
- motor is fine (I closed the window via direct 12v)
- removed body computer to physically inspect the relay - saw no cold solder, gave it a little nudge as well
- attempting to close the window directly via MES doesn’t work
- the issue occurred after I drove the car with a faulty alternator (the regulator failed while driving) and I had this window open
- it didn’t occur immediately, but approximately the next day (opened the window and it wouldn’t go back up)

Anyone ever come across such issue before? Any insight would be greatly appreciated

May not apply on yours but after failure some makes tel you to hold the button on all the way in each direction after operation for so many seconds so computer "knows" where top and bottom is.
Although not in your case, I have found a faulty passenger side window issue can be a drivers side main switch causing it.
I am assuming your window motor has only two wires , which the computer reverses when signal from the switches tells it up or down, so - becomes + and vice a versa.:)

Thanks for your feedback. I know of this technique, it was very similar on a previous car I owned with frameless windows.

I think this issue I have is isolated to the relay on the body computer board. I should also note that I have a code B1055 (driver’s side window motor riser)(- car is LHD). I did check the wiring and the only thing that seems off is that every press of the power window button - up/down on the passenger side and down on the driver’s side makes a very distinct and audible click from the relay, but the up press only makes a very faint click - barely heard.

Does it make the same quiet sound from passenger and drivers door switches?
The most common fault I have had is the signal not reaching the BCM either because of a door switch or the wiring from the door, but I agree in your case it may well be at the BCM. :)

We have an intermittent issue, the passenger window suddenly stops working or sometimes after the battery is off, it's closed, if you press the switch something clicks in the door but the window doesn't move, by chance my daughter rapidly pressed the switch many times, it suddenly started working and continues, this has happened a few times with the same cure, may have to try over a few days?

... by chance my daughter rapidly pressed the switch many times...
THIS ^^ , many times I have made widow and other switches work by rapidly switching them for seemingly ages. My take on this (rightly or wrongly) is that the contacts become oxidized, and rapidly activating them erodes the oxide. Anyhow, this IS a real solution, and may or may not fix your issue, but is my first goto when coming up against switches not working.
